How much of our own country have we discovered? Most people would probably say they have visited around 5% of Vietnam, including for leisure travel and business purposes.
Vietnam is a small country populated by a huge number of people compared to other huge countries with few people (Australia, Russia, etc).
Yet it has a rich culture, very diverse and really multi cultural across all regions. For the past some 4000 years the ancient Viet people populated the Red River delta, stretching from Phong Chau to all the Red River delta. It then spread throughout to the coastal central regions.
By the end of the 18th or 19th century, the Viet culture has expanded further to the southern tip, of which is the Phu Quoc island today.
Across the country travelers are fascinated by the beauty of landscapes, mountains, rainforests and beaches. The 54 ethnic groups contribute to a rich and multicultural Vietnam as we see today.
I am pretty sure a majority of us have not traveled as much as a backpacker from abroad.
